Dueling Dragonscoaster reopening at Islands of Adventure
Roller coaster to debut after park previews
Attraction closed since 2010
ORLANDO, Fla. - After park previews through the summer, Dueling Dragons officially opened to the public when Islands of Adventure opened Sunday.
When Islands of Adventure acquired the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park in 2010, the coaster Dueling Dragons closed so crews could reconfigure the ride to wind around the new Hogsmeade area of the park.
The coaster is the centerpiece of the new Dragon Alley section of the Islands of Adventure park. Dragon Alley was reimagined and rethemed based on the Harry Potter books and movies, and it features the new coaster as well as eateries, shops and other attractions.
The new Dueling Dragons ride features new cars, a new track and a new storyline. The coaster also has a new color scheme, with the green track replaced with a purple color.
